The WWII Heroes Who Stayed At Home - Katie Gertz
Did your parents or grandparents live in the United States during World War II? What was their life like? Did you hear any stories from them? Did they work in the wartime factories? Did they run the farm? Did they serve coffee and donuts to the troops at the various USO clubs? This presentation may answer those questions for you and allow you to perhaps turn back the clock and take a look at the heroes’ lives who stayed at home.
Katie Gertz is currently serving as the President of the Family History Society of Arizona. Katie became her family historian in 2008. She has attended many genealogy workshops and seminars and has been giving presentations to genealogy clubs and societies in Arizona and California since 2011. Her genealogy research has taken her back to her 7th great grandparents in this country. Although not Mayflower passengers, her ancestors were some of the earliest pioneers in New York and New Jersey. In 2018, she discovered first cousins that she was unaware of due to a split in her mother’s family in the 1930s. Like her passion for technology, genealogy presents intriguing puzzles to solve.
She is an entrepreneur who owns and operates a business called Kate’s Computer Clinic. She repairs, installs and teaches personal computers, both Windows-based and all Apple products. She is a certified Apple Product Professional and Microsoft Partner. She is well known by her customers as “Dr. Kate”.
